Typically, no. But there are rare occasions where a last minute cancellation has occurred and it just so happens to line up. Check out our Facebook Page or our artists’ individual Instagram accounts to get up to date information if a day becomes available on short notice.
Sort of! It is the best way to share important design information all together so an artist can see exactly what they need and crucial information is not missed once an artist starts designing. It really helps with the flow of things! Filling the form isn’t necessary when an artist posts a last minute availability on our social media pages. If you pop in person to our studio we can book you right then and there, however, we will also ask you fill in our form so we have all of the information we need as well as your reference images we can easily refer back to as your appointment date gets closer and closer.
We like to be as transparent as possible. Check out our artists’ individual Rates. Day rates and our shop minimum are located there as well.
We prefer you come alone for your appointment as we have a small work space and cannot accommodate many people. However, if you really feel more comfortable with someone you may bring one friend or family member.

Yes! Please read our comprehensive Pre-Care Instructions. Here are some notes to jot down, but we recommend you read our guide: Hydrate yourself well weeks before your appointment, have a good night sleep the night before, and eat food beforehand. Yes and No. Typically numbing creams can ruin the integrity of the stencil where it can easily get lost and there goes your artist’s map to make your tattoo as great as possible. The product may also make the skin red which can be frustrating for the artist being able to see the tones of the inks and how they look within the skin. This doesn’t happen to everyone but is still a possibility. These are risks that go along with numbing creams. There are also other risks: Please do not order some random brand/knock off brand online. Do your research. Different countries have different health regulations or no regulations. ingredients will most likely stay on the skin and then pernitrate within your skin where you are getting tattooed which can cause healing complications whether it be mild or in rare cases, severe. If you choose to use a numbing cream and these issues arise, a touch up will not be free and be at your expense as it was not in the artist’s control. If you do not have any allergies to Bactine, ask your artist about it. We offer this product later on in the tattoo process for longer sessions and for folks who are struggling with pain to help take the edge off. It is a mild numbing spray that only works when the skin has already been penetrated. The best pain management is keeping hydrated the weeks leading up to your tattoo and on the day of, Eat food before your appointment and bring snacks, Sleep well the night before- Keep your energy levels up!
Yes and No. Yes to most areas of your body and no when it comes to hands, feet, neck, and flexion points. There are also other stipulations. Please read our Touch Up Policy
Yes. Different artists have different confidence levels/experience when it comes to coverups. Ask your artist if your project is something they are comfortable taking on. You should be aware that when it comes to coverups, we will need to see you and your tattoo that you are wanting covered in person. There is a possibility that even when your artist accepts the project, they may try and try to make your desired design work and it just won’t. Then you may need to be more open to your artist’s suggestion to make something work for you. There is a possibility where on the day you come in for your appointment the design, although it looks good on paper, it doesn’t fit as well as the original mock-up. Small changes can be made that day, but large changes may require rescheduling. There is also a possibility that even though all of the avenues were taken, as much as your artist tried, they couldn’t wrap their head and how they design around something that can work for you.
We ask you to be as clinical as possible and to do our recommended care regimen for 2 weeks. It takes up to 6 weeks for your skin to fully cycle through. Please check out our Detailed Tattoo Aftercare instructions. We also send you home with more simplified instructions after your appointment.
Each artist is their own contractor and they are responsible for their own appointments and forms of payment. Evan accepts cash and e-transfer. Sara accepts cash, e-transfer, debit, and all major credit cards.

No, as there is usually a large influx of requests and they may get lost in the mix. At one point waitlists/cancellation lists were practiced but response times are slow no matter what form of contact an artist may use. An artist may only get in touch with a handful of people during an entire day and leading into the night while they wait for response times only to find out that last minute opening doesn’t work for anyone from that call/message list. To avoid many hours of contacting and the possibility of no work for an artist, we post on our social media pages if something comes available. Be sure to follow Gold Town Ink Studio on Facebook and each individual artist on their Instagram accounts for the most up to date availability from cancellations.
We will not tattoo anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. A tattoo is essentially an open wound that could then become a gateway for opportunistic infections to enter the body. These could then be passed on to a nursing infant, putting that infant at risk as its’ underdeveloped immune system may not be able to cope with the infection. An infection during pregnancy or breastfeeding could also result in miscarriage or unnecessary exposure to antibiotics that may disrupt the healthy fetal/infant micro biome. There is no benefit that a new tattoo could provide that would outweigh the risk of a potential complication during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding.
This all depends on the size/type/age of the scar or stretch mark. We will not tattoo over new or fresh scars (pink/purple in colour), as they haven’t yet completed the healing process. You’ll also need to keep in mind that ink may not behave the same way in the scar as it will in healthy tissue. It’s much harder to control what the ink will do once it enters the scar tissue. Consultations are required for any tattoos that will be done over a scar or stretch mark.
Getting a tattoo can be a very personal journey, therefore it may be difficult for an artist to design your tattoo without a good sense of your vision. You should at least have a general sense of what you want before you request an appointment unless you plan on giving your artist free reign over the entire piece and process, or are simply interested in available designs. If that isn’t the case, it’s likely best to wait until you’re more certain about what you’d like before booking an appointment.
We recommend you start by looking at the artist portfolios. From there you can get a sense of what their work looks like and if what they can do will suit your vision. If you still are unsure or do not have a preference we are happy to help pair you once we receive an Appointment Request Form which will help get a good sense of what you are wanting accomplished.
